Le 15 avril dernier, le Toronto Star a publié un article de fond sur PolySeSouvient et le lobby canadien des armes qui illustre les défis et les obstacles pour interdire une fois pour toutes les armes de type militaire – soit les mêmes qui sont utilisées presque quotidiennement dans les fusillades de masse aux États-Unis.

“This is our last fight,” Rathjen said. If they can’t secure an effective ban on assault weapons now, with support from the Liberals, NDP and Bloc Québécois, she continued, “It’s never going to happen.”
Many of the parents who lost daughters in 1989 and took it upon themselves to push for stricter gun laws have since died, including the father of Annie St-Arneault, who was 23 when she was killed. “There is a limit on how (long) you can carry on a fight of that magnitude,” her older brother, Serge, told the Star.

And I, as the mother of one of the dead girls, Anne-Marie Edward, was pleased to talk to you and share my experience with you about Ms. Heidi Rathjen, whom I love and respect for her, our, 33 years of never giving up the goal of eliminating forever the possibility of owning the very destructive assault weapons in Canada…
After all these years of trying to make it happen, support such as yours is all important to let the public know where we are coming from, and the threats we face in this battle from the gun lobby.
PolySeSouvient HAS NEVER THREATENED ANYONE FROM THE GUN LOBBY!!
I have been involved in the struggle since its inception and am not about to let go, I am still active with Ms. Rathjen and many others at age 83.
We MUST WIN this battle, the basic security of all Canadians is at stake…

La nouvelle monture d’amendements à venir forcera aussi les fabricants d’armes à jouer leur rôle quand ils mettent, par exemple, de nouveaux modèles sur le marché, selon ce qu’a évoqué le ministre.
